About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Information & Technology is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) for co-located hosting services (CHS) at two facilities: Gateway North in Chicago, Illinois and Gateway East in Sterling, Virginia. The VA seeks information to support a like-for-like transition of existing contracted services with potential upgrades only for equipment reaching end-of-life, with a future roadmap toward modernization. Key requirements include Tier 3 data center facilities with 24x7x365 staffing, compliance with TIA-942-B Rated 3 standards, SSAE 16, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, and HIPAA certifications, redundant power systems supporting up to 200 watts per square foot, ASHRAE Class A cooling, Tier 1 Internet connectivity with carrier-neutral cross-connect capabilities supporting up to 100Gbps bandwidth, and smart hands support averaged at 24 hours monthly per data center. Respondents must provide capability statements not exceeding 20 pages, identify applicable GWACs or Federal Supply Schedules, include three relevant case studies with zero downtime records, and submit rough order of magnitude pricing. The response deadline is April 15, 2026, at 1:00 PM EST, with submissions sent to TAC-AProcurementTeamE@va.gov with a maximum file size of 5 MB per email.
This RFI is issued for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a binding solicitation or restrict the VA's ultimate acquisition approach. No set-aside designation has been applied to this opportunity. The RFI does not identify current contractors or specify an award value or budget range, as this is a pre-solicitation notice intended to gather market information. Facility locations are geographically constrained to within 30 miles of Sterling, Virginia and Chicago, Illinois, within 2 miles of airports, outside hurricane and tornado zones, and in 100-year flood zones or better. Respondents should recommend contract type and duration as part of their submissions, and the VA anticipates a transition of existing services with support for Government Furnished Equipment including servers, routers, and load balancers.
