About this opportunity
USAFE-AFAFRICA/A6 is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) on commercial solutions for Risk Management Framework (RMF) process efficiencies, with white papers due 27 May 2026 at 1400 CEST. This is a market research effort only and does not commit the Air Force to solicit or award a contract.
The Air Force seeks automation and AI-driven solutions that reduce the RMF approval timeline and administrative burden while maintaining compliance with NIST SP 800-53 Revision 5 and DoDI 8510.01. USAFE-AFAFRICA's approval boundary has grown from 8 systems in August 2024 to 17 approved systems plus three in progress, creating an unsustainable workload. Current RMF approvals require approximately 12 months to achieve Authority to Operate (ATO).
Responses must address all six RMF steps, analyze standardization for the 720 USAF baseline controls, reduce Step 4 (assessment) from 90 days to 45 days, and demonstrate implementability within 12 months of contract award. The solution must handle unclassified, SECRET, and SECRET//REL systems using mature, commercially available technology with existing ATO, Common Criteria certification, or certification in progress. Desired attributes include automated artifact review, detailed output with references, increased system load capacity, simple operations, and data security guarantees.
White papers are limited to 12 pages (excluding cover page and capability statements) and must include company information, technical overview, maturity and compliance status, implementation milestones, rough order of magnitude pricing, and recommended acquisition approach. Written questions are due by 13 May 2026 at 1400 CEST. The government anticipates multiple acquisition pathways including Commercial Solutions Opening, FAR-based contracts, OTAs, and SBIR/STTR programs. Contact Corey Chopko, Ina Hemmer, or Captain Kevin Sheedy via e-mail.
