About this opportunity
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), specifically DITCO-Europe, is conducting a Request for Information (RFI) for a telecommunications infrastructure project involving a 10.709GB (OTU-2) diverse pair network connection between multiple international military locations, including Ramstein Flugplatz in Germany, Shaw Air Force Base in the United States, and Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. This market research initiative aims to gather information about potential service capabilities for communications infrastructure outside the contiguous United States (OCONUS). The RFI is purely informational and does not constitute a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) or guarantee future contract issuance. Responses are due by January 16, 2025, and potential vendors should note that the government will not reimburse any administrative costs associated with responding to this notice. The primary objective is to assess market readiness and determine appropriate strategic approaches for meeting DISA's telecommunications requirements.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designations for this opportunity, which suggests it will be open to broad competition within the Wired Telecommunications Carriers category (NAICS 517111). The procurement falls under the IT and Telecom - Network: Satellite Communications and Telecom Access Services product service code (PSC DG11). While specific award values are not disclosed, the technical specifications of a 10.709GB network pair suggest a potentially significant infrastructure investment. The project appears focused on establishing robust, diverse telecommunications connectivity between critical military installations across multiple continents. Potential respondents should be prepared to demonstrate advanced network engineering capabilities, international telecommunications infrastructure experience, and the ability to support complex, geographically distributed communication systems for defense-related applications.
