About this opportunity
The Defense Health Agency, headquartered at Fort Detrick, Maryland, is conducting market research through Request for Information (RFI) HT9426-26-RFI-WS02 to identify qualified vendors capable of integrating medical alarms into a medic-isolated medevac communications system. The procurement seeks a sensor data processor that acquires medical alarms from medical devices via USB/Ethernet ports, converts them to verbal alerts, prioritizes alarm content, and broadcasts them wirelessly to medic radio components while supporting up to three patients simultaneously. Key requirements include enabling medics to receive voice alerts identifying the patient and alarm type without modifying actual medical equipment, ensuring alarms are heard only by the medic rather than pilots, and maintaining the medic's ability to communicate with pilots and crew through existing communications systems. This is a Request for Information announcement only, and responses will be treated as market research data rather than proposals; the government will not award contracts or provide payment based on RFI submissions. The response deadline is April 17, 2026, and interested vendors must submit written documentation demonstrating sufficient technical expertise and functional area experience to fulfill the requirement.
No set-aside designation has been applied to this opportunity, and no incumbent contractor or specific award value has been identified in the pre-solicitation notice. The procurement is classified under NAICS code 334220 (Radio and Television Broadcasting and Wireless Communications Equipment Manufacturing), indicating the nature of the goods and services being sought. The specification indicates the system must support medical alarm integration for up to three patients, representing a defined scope parameter for potential offerors to address in their response documentation. While no budget range is disclosed in the RFI announcement, interested companies should prepare comprehensive technical responses outlining their experience and capability in wireless communications systems, medical device integration, and voice alert processing. The government's primary objective at this stage is identifying the market landscape and understanding which vendors possess the technical competencies necessary to develop this specialized medevac communications capability.
