About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation (DLA/AWB) intends to award a sole-source contract to L3Harris for manufacture of the Power Control Module (PCM, NSN 6130-01-523-3338) and High Bandwidth Assembly (HBA, NSN 1095-01-523-5767) for the BRU-57/A Bomb Release Unit, with interested parties to respond by October 20, 2026 at 1700 EST.

The procurement is proceeding under Other Than Full and Open Competition. L3Harris is the incumbent and original equipment manufacturer (CAGE 82340, previously EDO LLC). The Government does not own technical data, drawings, schematics, or other releasable documentation supporting the requirement; L3Harris possesses the sole known technical knowledge of BRU-57 performance requirements and the data necessary to ensure equipment compatibility.

The PCM functions as the primary electrical power management, conditioning, and distribution hub for the BRU-57/A Smart Bomb Rack system used on the F-16 C/D aircraft. The HBA serves as the high-speed data communication link between the F-16 and two smart weapons, routing data between platforms. Both components were developed to military unique requirements and are MIL-STD-1760 capable for side-by-side carriage and vertical ejection of two 14-inch suspension stores.

Interested parties may demonstrate capability and interest by emailing robert.berg.9@us.af.mil no later than the October 20 deadline. This pre-solicitation notice constitutes market research to identify potential alternative sources capable of meeting qualification and production requirements.
