About this opportunity

The US Army DEVCOM Soldier Center is conducting a Sources Sought Announcement to identify potential suppliers for two types of single edge, double bevel design blades used in cutting apparatus for synthetic fiber production. The procurement is for precision-engineered blades with specific technical specifications, including exact dimensional requirements and material composition (92% Tungsten Carbide, 12% Cobalt). Interested parties are required to submit electronic responses to mary.k.prebensen.civ@army.mil and christine.p.poulack.civ@army.mil by February 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM EST. Potential suppliers must provide their business size, socioeconomic status, NAICS code, and CAGE code, with questions permitted via email until February 25, 2025. This is a pre-solicitation notice and does not constitute a formal Request for Proposal, with no guarantee of future contract award or funding commitment.

The Sources Sought Announcement does not include a specific set-aside designation and covers two distinct blade sets with different specifications. The first blade set requires 3,000 blades (three shipments of 1,000 or single shipment) with precise measurements of 0.630" length, 0.315" width, and 0.019" thickness. The second blade set requires 4,000 blades (four shipments of 1,000 or single shipment) with measurements of 48.0mm length and 0.9mm thickness. The government anticipates a 20-week lead time for these items, with delivery expected within 6-8 weeks after order receipt. While no specific award value is mentioned, the technical complexity and precise material requirements suggest a specialized manufacturing contract within the Cutting Tool and Machine Tool Accessory Manufacturing NAICS category (333515). Notably, this announcement is purely informational, and no reimbursement will be provided for response costs.
