About this opportunity

The 52nd Contracting Squadron at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to conduct market research on local construction subcontractors. Published on April 28, 2026, by the Department of the Air Force, this special notice seeks to identify qualified local construction companies that could serve as subcontractors to existing Multiple Award Construction Contract (MACC) prime contractors. The RFI is explicitly not a binding procurement instrument such as an RFP, RFQ, or IFB, and the Government has made clear it will not reimburse costs associated with responding. This initiative aims to support ongoing base infrastructure projects by gathering information about available local tradespeople and compiling that data into a vendor directory for use by current MACC prime contractors.

The primary objective of this RFI is to facilitate teaming arrangements and subcontracting opportunities between local construction firms and existing MACC prime contractors supporting Spangdahlem Air Base. Interested companies must respond by April 30, 2027, and must possess current German trade certifications, such as a Meisterbrief or equivalent recognized qualifications, to legally perform their specific trades in Germany. The Government is seeking subcontractors across a comprehensive range of construction disciplines, including general construction and carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, concrete and masonry, civil and site work, painting, fire protection systems, and environmental remediation. There is no set-aside designation for this opportunity, meaning it is open to all qualified local contractors who meet the mandatory German certification requirements and possess expertise in the construction trades needed to support the broad scope of maintenance, repair, and new construction work at the air base.
