About this opportunity
The U.S. Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center is conducting a Request for Information on July 20, 2026 to identify industry capabilities for designing, developing, testing, and manufacturing a B-52 Advanced Wing Weapons Pylon (AWWP) replacement. No set-aside is anticipated.
The pylon must carry munitions up to 20,000 pounds while maintaining combined pylon-and-stores weight not exceeding 28,000 pounds at the wing hardpoint, support multiple carriage configurations from eight 2,600-pound munitions to a single 20,000-pound munition, maintain conventional and nuclear certification, interface with MIL-STD-1760E weapons systems, and meet B-52 environmental and flight qualification standards (MIL-STD-8591, MIL-STD-810, MIL-HDBK-1763, MIL-STD-1289, MIL-STD-2088). Respondents must demonstrate electrical integration, aircraft impact assessment, ground and flight test experience supporting MIL-HDBK-516C airworthiness certification, digital engineering practices, production capacity, and ground support equipment design. Earned Value Management and Integrated Master Plan/Schedule capabilities, configuration management, counterfeit prevention (SAE AS5553), DMSMS management, and supply chain risk mitigation are required. CMMC/NIST SP 800-171 security compliance and facility clearance levels are mandatory.
The government estimates a 36-month design and development timeline to Critical Design Review, with initial production of 20–24 pylons (minimum 12 delivered within the first year) and anticipated long-term requirements of approximately 130 pylons. Small businesses are encouraged to participate.
An Industry Day is scheduled July 7–9, 2026 at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, with joint Government presentation on July 7 morning and breakout sessions July 7–9 afternoons. RSVP deadline is June 25, 2026 to Ashley Gray, ashley.gray.9@us.af.mil.
