About this opportunity

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC-CR) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking market research on bead clamps used for DDG51 Class Destroyer sonar dome rubber window installations. The RFI, identified by announcement number N0016425SNB29, focuses on procuring specific forged steel clamps with precise technical specifications. The clamp set consists of three different types of clamps, totaling 422 pieces, manufactured from AISI C 1045 steel in a normalized material condition. The clamps must meet specific material requirements, including tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and hardness standards. The Navy anticipates a future demand of 2-3 sets annually.

Interested contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and submit a detailed response by February 19, 2025, at 4:00 PM EDT. Responses must include the submitter's name, full address, point of contact information, DUNS number, and CAGE code. The RFI is strictly a market research initiative under FAR Part 10 and does not guarantee a future contract or solicitation. Contractors are required to provide information demonstrating their technical capability to manufacture the bead clamps according to specific requirements, including hammer forging from unfinished steel, painting per MIL-DTL-24441 specification, and compliance with drawing 6667641. Responses should be emailed to designated NSWC-CR contacts: Ms. Erin Kelley and Mr. Matthew Swartzentruber. Contractors should note that any costs incurred in preparing the response will not be reimbursed, and the government is not obligated to proceed with a formal procurement.
