About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Military Sealift Command has issued a Request for Information (RFI) regarding plural-component spray systems and shipyard coating application capabilities. Posted on April 29, 2026, this Special Notice is a market research initiative designed to identify and evaluate shipyards with experience in plural-component coating applications. No contract will be awarded from this notice, and no solicitation, specification, or drawing is currently available. The RFI is open to all interested shipyards without any set-asides. This market research effort will help the government assess the breadth and depth of industry capabilities in this specialized area.
The primary objective of this RFI is to gather detailed information about shipyard experience, technical proficiency, and capabilities in applying plural-component coating systems to Department of War, Department of Defense, or large-scale commercial vessels. Interested shipyards must submit responses to a detailed questionnaire by 4:30 p.m. EDT on May 13, 2026, via email to damian.w.finke.civ@us.navy.mil. Submissions are voluntary and not a prerequisite for future contract opportunities, though participation will inform the government's understanding of available industry capabilities. The questionnaire addresses past performance within the preceding 36 months, specific coating manufacturer experience and certifications, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control protocols. Participants should provide specific, verifiable evidence and examples where applicable, and the government will not provide compensation for any information submitted in response to this notice.
