About this opportunity

The US Army Contracting Command-Aberdeen Proving Ground is conducting market research for commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS) connectors and cables to support the Mounted Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing System (MAPS) GEN II integration into Army mounted platforms. The procurement will support A-kit production for three specific vehicle platforms: M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank, M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle, and M113 Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle Family of Vehicles. The government requires three types of connectors: 24-contact push-pull plugs with pre-populated wires, wire harness assemblies with 13-pin circular connectors, and 11mm push-pull plugs with 19 contacts, all meeting stringent technical specifications including IP68 sealing and temperature resistance from -55°C to 135°C. Respondents must provide capability statements including technical documentation, design specifications, production capacity, and relevant DoD production history. The RFI response deadline is September 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM EST, with submissions required via MS Word format to specified Army contacts.

This opportunity has no set-aside designation and is open to all qualified contractors under NAICS code 334417 (Electronic Connector Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,000 employees. No incumbent contractors or current award values are specified in this market research RFI, as the government explicitly states this is for information gathering purposes only and does not constitute a commitment to procure. The government requires delivery of acceptable connectors no later than January 30, 2026, establishing a relatively tight timeline from contract award to delivery. The specific quantities of connectors needed are not disclosed in the RFI, as this information-gathering exercise appears designed to assess industry capabilities and capacity before developing formal procurement requirements. The technical specifications indicate a need for ruggedized, military-grade connectors capable of withstanding harsh environmental conditions and maintaining reliable data transfer connections between the MAPS GEN II system and various clients on Army vehicle platforms.
