About this opportunity
The Air Force Service Center, operating under the Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command, is conducting market research through a Request for Information to identify commercially available or emerging food service equipment, automation platforms, robotics, containerized and modular retail solutions, and data-driven production planning systems that can enhance operational capabilities and efficiency across Department of the Air Force food service operations. This Pre-Solicitation Notice, posted on March 4, 2026, seeks industry input to assess mature and executable solutions that may inform potential pilot initiatives or future acquisition strategies outlined in the attached draft Statement of Objectives. Respondents are required to submit written information only—oral submissions will not be considered—and must include company contact details, relevant NAICS codes under which their company operates, and descriptions of standard commercial contract terms applicable to their offerings. Importantly, this RFI does not constitute a solicitation, Request for Proposal, or invitation for bid, and the government makes no commitment to any contractual obligation or financial liability based on responses received. The response deadline is March 16, 2026, providing interested parties with a 12-day window to submit information.
No set-aside designation has been applied to this market research initiative. The RFI does not identify specific incumbent contractors, award values, or budget ranges, as the government is still in the information-gathering phase to develop its acquisition strategy. The notice emphasizes that responding companies will not be reimbursed for costs incurred in preparing their responses and that submitted information will not be returned to respondents. The classified categories for this opportunity include NAICS 334118 (Computer Terminal and Other Computer Peripheral Equipment Manufacturing) and PSC 7320 (Kitchen Equipment and Appliances), indicating the broad scope of technology solutions the Air Force is exploring for its food service modernization efforts. This RFI represents an early-stage market engagement intended to inform strategic planning rather than to facilitate immediate procurement action.
