About this opportunity
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to conduct market research for a potential Enterprise Private Wide Area Network (WAN) contract that would provide geographically diverse colocation services, highly available telecommunications services, internet connectivity, and cloud connectivity. The FDIC seeks to understand contractor capabilities and market trends for this anticipated multi-year procurement that would support six key objectives: colocation services, backbone connectivity, regional and area office connectivity, field office connectivity, internet services, and cloud connectivity across their network of 73 locations nationwide. The agency requires a private WAN solution where vendors provide all equipment while FDIC manages security services internally, specifically excluding SD-WAN, 5G networks, and Zero Trust Architecture approaches. Questions regarding this RFI were due by August 18, 2025, and responses are due by September 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. ET, submitted to Contracting Officer Christina V. Brooks via email with a 12-page limit. The FDIC emphasizes that since they are not subject to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), responding to this voluntary RFI is the primary way for companies to express interest in being considered for the future Enterprise WAN requirement.
This opportunity does not utilize any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified contractors. The potential contract is structured as a 10-to-15-year multi-year agreement, representing a significant long-term commitment for network infrastructure services. The FDIC's current network infrastructure includes seven hub locations across the continental United States with fully redundant power and infrastructure, serving 73 total locations that require either 1Gbps or 10Gbps bandwidth capacity depending on the site's criticality and function. The locations span multiple categories including Regional Offices, Field Offices, Area Offices, and Data Centers distributed across major metropolitan areas including Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, Ashburn, New York, Denver, and Silicon Valley. The RFI document does not specify budget ranges or estimated contract values, focusing instead on gathering market intelligence to inform future procurement planning decisions.

Update #2 · Latest ·
Questions and Responses from the FDIC are posted. Responses are due by 2:00pm September 8, 2025.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) requests information to obtain a better understanding of contractors and trends in the market, to include the latest capabilities and offerings as the FDIC considers implementing a new, multi-year (10- to 15-year) Enterprise Private Wide Area Network (hereby referred to as FDIC WAN or Enterprise WAN) contract. This new potential contract is anticipated to provide geographically diverse colocation services, highly available and redundant telecommunications services, internet connectivity, and cloud connectivity. The following are high level objectives the Enterprise WAN should support.
- Colocation Services
- Backbone Connectivity
- Regional & Area Office Connectivity
- Field Office Connectivity
- Internet Services
- Cloud Connectivity
In addition to this RFI, the FDIC may, at its discretion, conduct additional market research engagements.[1] Importantly, the FDIC is not subject to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the FDIC may make planning and procurement decisions based on responses to this RFI. Therefore, responding to this RFI–while voluntary–is the best way for a company to let the FDIC know it has interest in being considered for the Enterprise WAN requirement.
