About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Hanscom Air Force Base is conducting market research through a Request for Information for Dark Fiber Maintenance and Repair Services at their Bedford, Massachusetts facility. The procurement seeks contractors capable of maintaining and repairing an existing 2-strand dark fiber system owned by Crown Castle Fiber LLC, with requirements for routine maintenance scheduling, emergency response capabilities, and ensuring connectivity between two designated sites. Contractors must demonstrate the ability to respond to service failures within two hours and restore connectivity within six hours, while maintaining 24/7/365 emergency response capabilities. The government anticipates using a Firm Fixed Price contract structure and requires interested parties to submit a three-page letter of interest detailing their approach to meeting the requirements, past performance on similar projects, and existing government contract capabilities. Responses must be submitted by June 19, 2025, to Contract Specialist Kamryn Anderson and Contracting Officer Captain Ashleigh Oneal via email.

This opportunity does not include any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified contractors. The RFI identifies Crown Castle Fiber LLC as the current owner of the dark fiber infrastructure that requires maintenance services, though no incumbent contractor is specifically mentioned. No contract values, budget ranges, or award amounts are disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice, as this is strictly an informational market research effort. The scope involves maintenance of a 2-strand dark fiber system, with specific performance timelines of two hours for initial response and six hours for full connectivity restoration. The government emphasizes that this RFI is for informational purposes only and does not guarantee any future contract award or commitment to proceed with a formal solicitation.
