About this opportunity

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance & Special Operations Forces (ISR & SOF) Directorate is conducting market research through this Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential sources capable of providing hand-held devices that combine multiple capabilities, including near-infrared (NIR) pulsed pointer, visible and NIR aiming lasers, NIR illuminator, and 1064nm PRF coded marker, in a small form factor solution. The goal is to identify systems that can provide these combined capabilities with minimal Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP) and cost. All laser devices must be on the USAF Safety Center Laser Systems "Approved Systems" listing, with FDA approval or DoD waiver as applicable. Vendors are encouraged to submit roadmaps showing near-term (1-2 years) planned improvements to their proposed solutions. This RFI is for informational purposes and market research only and does not constitute a solicitation.

There is no set-aside designation for this opportunity. The government has not provided any information about potential incumbents or current contractors. Similarly, no award values or budget ranges have been specified. The RFI requests information, but does not indicate the quantity of goods or timeline for services.

Update #3 · Latest ·

THE DEADLINE FOR RESPONDING TO THIS RFI HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO NOON EST 20 NOVEMBER 2024.

This Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS)/Request for Information (RFI) is issued for informational purposes and market research only; it does not constitute a solicitation. The Government will not reimburse any company or individual for any expenses associated with preparing/submitting information in response to this posting. The information provided may be used by the Government in developing its acquisition strategy, statement of work/statement of objectives, and/or performance specifications. Interested parties are responsible for adequately marking proprietary or competition sensitive information contained within their response as instructed later in this posting.

The United States (US) Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance & Special Operations Forces (ISR & SOF) Directorate, Special Warfare (SW) Program Office (AFLCMC/WISN) is conducting market research to identify possible sources capable of providing hand-held devices that combine the capabilities in Section 3 below.  For SW missions, combining these capabilities into single systems can provide benefit to the user, including reducing the number of items carried on mission, reduced Size, Weight and Power (SWAP), fewer cables, and reduced cost.

The SW program office seeks information on the best available Systems that provide optimum capability with minimal SWAP and Cost. All laser devices must be on the USAF Safety Center Laser Systems “Approved Systems” listing, with FDA approval or DoD waiver as applicable.

This RFI seeks systems in production, however vendors are encouraged to submit roadmaps showing near-term (1-2 years) planned improvements to proposed solutions.

See Attachment for additional information.
