About this opportunity
Air Force Test Center's Installation Contracting Division at Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee, is conducting market research through a sources-sought notice to identify qualified vendors for aluminide treatments on aerospace components, with responses due June 30, 2026. This is a market research effort only; no solicitation or commitment to award follows. AEDC requires aluminide treatments using pack-cementation or CVD methodology on Nickel-Chromium Alloy 230 substrates capable of withstanding high-temperature oxidation at or exceeding 2000°F.
The requirement spans two distinct applications. Straightener mesh uses 0.100-inch wire diameter substrate in approximately 1-foot cross-sectional diameter configuration, directly exposed to dry air flow. Liners consist of welded, thin-walled Alloy 230 flow liners measuring 2–5 feet in length and 1–2.5 feet in diameter, also exposed to dry air flow. Treatment adhesion must be comparable to the substrate's strength in both cases.
Responses should provide company name, address, telephone, email, and SAM.gov registration status. Respondents may discuss alternative methodologies beyond the stated pack-cementation or CVD approaches. No funds are available to reimburse response preparation costs. Submission details are truncated in the source; the contracting office address is AFTC/PZI, 100 Kindel Drive, Suite A-335, Arnold AFB, TN 37389-1335.

INTRODUCTION
Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) has a need for aluminide treatments (pack-cementation or CVD) for Nickel-Chromium Alloy 230 substrates capable of withstanding high-temperature oxidation reaching or exceeding 2000°F. Discussion of other methodologies is acceptable.
The primary requirements are:
1. Aluminide Treatments for Straightener Mesh - The substrate shall be a nickel-chromium Alloy 230 wire mesh directly exposed to dry air flow. It has a wire diameter of approximately 0.100 inches, and a total cross-sectional diameter of approximately 1 foot. Adhesion of the treatment must be comparable to the substrate’s strength.
2. Aluminide Treatments for Liners - The substrate will be welded, thin-walled, nickel-chromium Alloy 230 flow liners directly exposed to dry air flow. The liners are 2-5 feet long and 1-2.5 feet in diameter. Adhesion of the treatment must be comparable to the substrate’s strength.
SUBMISSION DETAILS
Responses should include:
1. Company Information: Company name, company address, and telephone number and e-mail address of company point of contact.
2. System for Award Management (SAM) Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) Number.
3. Overview of company’s technical capabilities including:
a. The vendor’s background
b. Key corrosion protection capabilities
c. Typical applications for these processes
d. Quality assurance program, metrics, inspection methods, etc.
e. Applicable specifications or standards for services in question
d. Confirmation of NIST and/or CMMC compliance and JCP certification if obtained
Submission: Provide your company’s overview of technical capabilities to meet the subject requirement no later than 4:00 PM Central Time (CT) on 12 June 2026, via email to Ms. Haley Smith at haley.smith.10@us.af.mil.
NOTE:If the technical capabilities of your company align with the requirement, the Contracting Officer may contact the company POC to schedule a follow-up discussion with the Government Project Team.
