About this opportunity
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has issued a special notice for the procurement of replacement rig kit equipment to support their Aircraft Operations Center. This procurement involves acquiring specialized aircraft flight control rigging equipment specifically for NOAA's acquisition of two new Gulfstream G550 SP aircraft that will replace their aging G-IV SP aircraft fleet. The notice was posted on August 27, 2025, with responses due by September 2, 2025. The required equipment includes throw boards and a flight control cable remove/replace rig kit, with specifications found in the Gulfstream G550 Aircraft Maintenance Manual and Gulfstream SE catalog. NOAA has identified Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation as the preferred provider since they are the sole manufacturer of this specialized equipment.
The primary objective of this procurement is to ensure NOAA's Aircraft Operations Center can effectively maintain the flight control systems of the new G550 aircraft throughout their operational lifecycle, which is critical for flight safety and platform airworthiness. All rigging equipment must be delivered to NOAA's Aircraft Operations Center in Lakeland, Florida, prior to December 1, 2025. The procurement includes specific part numbers: 1159SEM200045-1 Throw Boards and M2371 Flight Control Cable Remove/Replace Rig Kit, with one unit of each required. This acquisition represents an initial provisioning action to support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance operations that require manufacturer-specific equipment designed for flight control system maintenance. The notice indicates no set-aside designation, suggesting it is open to all qualified contractors, though Gulfstream's status as the sole manufacturer effectively limits competition.
