About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 20 is seeking to procure 27 replacement patient lounge chairs for the Acute Mental Health Ward at the Portland VA Medical Center. The procurement includes 15 standard-size chairs and 12 bariatric-size chairs, both designed specifically for behavioral health environments with stringent safety requirements including fully welded 14-gauge powder-coated steel frames, tamper-resistant fasteners, sled base design, and bleach-cleanable anti-microbial fabric upholstery. The chairs must meet weight ratings of 550 pounds for standard chairs and 750 pounds for bariatric chairs, with upholstery specifications calling for Momentum Textiles Beeline in Lake and Fossil colors. This procurement is intended to address patient safety guidelines compliance and fix deficiencies identified during Environment of Care rounds. The solicitation requires quotes to be submitted by September 5, 2025, at 4:00 PM PST, with an expected lead time of 5-6 weeks after contract award.

This opportunity is designated as a 100% Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business set-aside, limiting eligibility to qualified SDVOSB contractors. The solicitation references Stance Healthcare's Onward Lounge Seating as a comparable product, suggesting this manufacturer may have provided similar solutions previously or serves as a benchmark for the required specifications. While no specific contract value is disclosed in the available documentation, the procurement involves institutional furniture manufacturing under NAICS code 337127. The chairs will be drop-shipped directly to the VA Portland Health Care System facility located in Portland, Oregon. The procurement timeline indicates an urgent need, with only an 11-day response window from posting to submission deadline, followed by the relatively short 5-6 week delivery schedule after award.
