About this opportunity

NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Center plans to replace a 4.5-mile 15kV overhead power line at its Florida location. This will include removing approximately 148 wooden poles and replacing them with concrete poles and power lines built to FPL standards. It will also require removing underground PILC cable and replacing it with 2,500 linear feet of 15kV EPR cable, as well as removing four load break switches and providing 15kV fuse cutouts. A licensed Florida engineering firm will provide design services for the electrical, environmental, and structural engineering requirements. The RFQ is anticipated for release in November 2023 with the RFP to follow in January 2024. Proposals will be evaluated based on the two-phase design-build selection procedures outlined in FAR Part 36.3.
