Notice text
Corrosion in and around fastener holes in USAF aircraft structures is a significant maintenance burden
because if the corrosion is not addressed, fatigue cracking will greatly reduce the structure’s service life.
The objective of this project is to test and validate a new standardized and verifiable cold working process
that inexpensively imparts compressive residual stresses at corroded fastener holes in aluminum structures
and, as a result, extends the useful life of the aircraft
Awarded contract FA8650-21-C-5230 to PARTWORKS, LLC for 4388400.00 on 2021-02-03.
