Notice text

The objective of this project is to build on earlier work that has demonstrated that regional distance moment tensor analysis can discriminate explosions from naturally occurring earthquakes and mine collapses by applying propoer characterization and uncertainty analysis.  This project will 1) expand the database of regional moment tensor solutions of earthquakes, collapses and explosions from around the world; 2) explore improved methods for random and systematic uncertainty; 3) improve the network sensitivity solution method for determining source station geometry and noice sensitivity in being able to distinquish between explosive and non explosive seismic sources.
