Replace roller chains at the Knightville Dam in Huntington, MA. The work of this project includes but is not limited to the following: Replace/rebuild roller chains located on three Broome type slide gates located in the intake tower at Knightville Dam. The fabricated steel gates are approximately 70 years old and are operated by stationary wire rope hoists. Gate movement is facilitated by roller chains, which are mounted on the sides of the gates and covered by chain guards. One of these chains has fallen off gate 3, and two new chains are required for that gate. Rebuild the 5 remaining chains using existing rollers and links, and providing new pins designed to accommodate retaining ring fasteners. (Existing pins are riveted.) Note that only one gate may be worked on at a time; the other two gates must remain operational. The extra chain will be stored on site as spare.
