Repair California Boulevard from Highway 1 to Utah Avenue / Modification 03
General: Restore Three Storm Drain Culverts / Re-line Three Culverts
Corrosion of the existing corrugated steel culvert pipes will lead to underground piping of the subgrade soils leading to erosion of the subgrade soils creating sinkholes or settling the new pavement.
This project is based on relining 3 culverts with HDPE Snap Tite Pipe. Once the liner has been installed and placed in a comfortable position to allow a good section for the slurry, then pressurized grout (slurry) will be applied in the void between the existing pipe and the liner to fill the void. With the installation of the liner it will require labors and masons working in the confined area of the drain inlet basin for the grout tie in, this will require safety measures for confined spaces and will consist of a certified safety monitor with proper PPE supplied for the confined space entry, ventilation fan, harness, safety man lift winch. Restore discharge opening areas by installing an energy dissipater at the discharge end of the culvert on the down stream side. Traffic control will be used during the concrete installation for the mixers and pump to stage. Coordination with service contracts for irrigation run off water will need scheduling.

Update #4 ·

Repair California Boulevard from Highway 1 to Utah Avenue / Modification 02
General: Modification for Differing Sight Condition
This project is based on cleaning 3 culverts from the west drain inlet to east side outlet; Statement of work will involve removing the sediment and debris from the 3 culverts by way of a vacuum truck, with the use of water to agitate the sediment and recover the debris collected at the down stream end of the culvert. Recovered debris will be loaded into the vacuum truck then transferred into a baker tank if needed as a backup, all the debris collected will be packaged a dispose of accordingly. Once the culverts are all clean then a video camera will be used to identify the interior condition of the culvert. Demo and install new drain inlet west side of California along with 20 lf curb & gutter to tie in.

The existing 6 to 8 foot section of both shoulders will be over-excavated 22.5 inches in depth and 9 to 10 foot wide to meet needed stabilization back of curb as indicated from soils report. The area ranging from hwy 1 to the area where the road tapers down, will receive a Type II Slurry after minor asphalt repairs have been completed. Some asphalt & sub-grade material will be removed and replaced due to failures in the sub-grade transferring to the failure of the asphalt.  After the repairs and cold plane grinding has been completed, California Blvd will be over-laid with 1-inch leveling course and petro-mat fabric over the top and then 2-inch finish course grade asphalt. Once the overlay has been completed then all utilities will be raised and striping will be installed to its original configuration.
