RECOVERY -
Description - This contract requires replacement of already installed older rigid tubes that may need replacement of the rigid tubes or rotten bamboo sticks that support the plastic tubes. Rigid tube maintenance involves weaving bamboo through the rigid tube plastic webbing two times and then placing the tube over a seedling and pounding the bamboo into the ground 4 with a piece of slash or other hammer device. Rigid tube maintenance also involves untangling trees that have into and/or though tube. Tubes removed from a dead seedling and not reused in the same unit must be carried down to the nearest driveable road and stacked in a pile for pickup by the Forest Service later. The person doing the maintenance sometimes has to work on uneven ground where the footing in not the best and the slash is slippery and on steep slopes and during all types of adverse weather conditions.
The Government supplies the tubes and bamboo that needs replacement. The Contractor furnishes the labor, supervision, transportation and incidentals to complete tuber maintenance. The Government supplies for the Libby R.D. will be located next to the tree cooler at the Canoe Gulch Ranger Station. Payment is by the acre of maintenance for each unit and bid item.
Permission to work behind a gated road closure and gate key shall be obtained from the Libby Ranger District prior to working behind closed gates.
NOTE: THE DUE DATE IS FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY. THE OFFICIAL DUE DATE FOR PROPOSALS WILL BE PROVIDED IN THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL TO BE ISSUED APPROXIMATELY FEBRUARY 11, 2010.
