Update #1 ·

RECOVERY - The purpose of this project is to secure the services for hazardous fuels reduction and timber stand improvement on approximately 2,500 acres of National Forest land on the Northern Hills Ranger District. The work for this project consists of reducing the potential of a wildfires reaching private homes adjacent to the National Forest and to provide strategic locations to help firefighters contain future wildfires and selectively thinning to leave the largest healthy trees. To achieve these objectives, this will require reducing the density of trees from seedings two feet high up to trees with a 7 inch diameter at breast height (DBH). The fuels reduction will occure on National Forest lands adjacent to private lands. This will require the contractor concern for stand visuals after treatment and the protection of private property during the treatment. This project will have three bid items, 2 mechanical bid items and 1 thin with hand piling bid item.

The location of this project is on the Northern Hills Ranger District, Lawrence county, South Dakota.

All responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered by the Government. In accordance with FAR 4.1102(a), prospective contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database prior to award of a contract.
