About this opportunity

The Department of the Army Materiel Command Contracting Command Rock Island Arsenal is seeking a contractor to recondition an inertia welder manufactured in 1985 by Advanced Technologies Inc. (ATI). The welder has been out of use since 2006 and requires inspection, adjustment, and replacement of the obsolete Allen-Bradley PLC-2 controller with a modern version. Interested contractors must submit their responses by May 24, 2024, and will be evaluated on their ability to meet the key contract requirements.

This procurement is unrestricted, with no set-aside designation. The pre-solicitation notice does not mention any incumbents or potential contractors. No details are provided on the award value or budget range, but the notice indicates that the welder requires reconditioning to restore its functionality.

Notice text

Vertical Spin welder was manufactured in 1985 by Advanced Technologies Inc. (ATI). The spin welder has not been used since 2006.  The system was started up and appears to function mechanically.  Test welds were made in late 2023, and these failed push-off testing.  It has been determined that the welder needs to be inspected and adjusted, and the PLC (an Allen-Bradley PLC-2, which is obsolete) be replaced with a modern version.
