About this opportunity
The United States Coast Guard issued a Special Notice on July 16, 2026 providing feedback observations from the RB-S (Rigid Boat-Small) Demonstrator event conducted in April and May 2026; this feedback does not constitute a solicitation, request for proposal, amendment, or commitment by the Government. Multiple Coast Guard crews operated four RB-S demonstration boats across various mission scenarios, with crew comments consolidated to capture operational insights. The feedback addresses hull form performance, seating configurations including sit-stand options and elevated aft seating for visibility, multi-function display recommendations (three displays: one each for coxswain, navigator, and aft crew member), console layout and user-friendly equipment positioning, steering systems with joystick placement and manual centering capability, throttle controls, all-wireless crew communications with dedicated headset stowage, tow reel configuration, handrail and handhold placement, insulation and fatigue matting, long gun stowage placement, door and hatch securing mechanisms, radio speaker placement, dimming-capable lighting for night operations, window functionality and ventilation, HVAC system modularity, thermal imaging equipment, storage solutions, and firing arc preferences. The document includes reference sketches depicting preferred console layouts, window configurations, and firing arcs, explicitly noted as not representing Government-approved or mandated standards. The Coast Guard will not respond to questions on this feedback but may provide opportunities for questions during future solicitations or official Government notices.
