About this opportunity

Army Contracting Command–Aberdeen Proving Ground (Tobyhanna Division) is conducting a sources sought to identify vendors capable of manufacturing rare earth magnets for brushless direct current motors in small uncrewed aircraft systems, with responses due August 27, 2026 at 10 AM EST. This is market research only and does not constitute a commitment to contract or promise of a future RFP.

The Government seeks Neodymium Magnet arc segments in N52SH (preferred) or N42SH (acceptable) grade with triple-layer Nickel-Copper-Nickel plating and radial magnetization for alternating polarity configuration. Three specific magnet sizes are required for BLDC motors supporting 10–12", 7–8", and 4–6" sUAS platforms, each requiring 14 pieces per motor with precise outer diameter, inner diameter, arc segment angle, height, and thickness specifications. Respondents must document supply chain transparency from raw material mining through final packaging, ensure zero-defect quality assurance meeting exact magnetic and physical parameters, and demonstrate internal testing capabilities for material properties and geometric tolerances.

The Government anticipates multiple awards and will consider all small business set-aside categories. Capability statements in bullet format limited to 10 pages (Adobe PDF or Microsoft Word, minimum 10-point font) must address company profile, manufacturing and ordering capabilities, supply chain transparency and logistics, and material testing and quality control procedures. Contact Corey Katsak (corey.d.katsak.civ@army.mil), Ryan Kinger (ryan.c.kinger2.civ@army.mil), or Steve Wiltz for questions.
