About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 10, is issuing a Notice of Intent to sole-source Artera AI Prostate testing to Artera, Inc. (UEI S8PHW2AWT2R7) under Simplified Acquisition Procedures and FAR 6.302-1, with a due date of November 10, 2026. The notice states that no set-aside is used and that only one responsible source can satisfy the requirement. Network Contracting Office 10 is procuring on behalf of the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System (VANEOHS), which requires access to multi-modal artificial intelligence (MMAI) prostate risk stratification testing of prostate biopsies or surgical specimens to assess the likelihood and severity of prostate recurrence or progression. The test analyzes H&E-stained pathology slides alongside clinical information such as age, tumor stage, and lab results, predicts which patients are likely to benefit from therapies such as short-term androgen deprivation therapy, and estimates long-term progression and metastasis risk. The notice states that Artera AI Prostate is the first MMAI test recommended in the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines for prostate cancer. The procurement is coded NAICS 541380 with a $19 million size standard and PSC Q515.

Description of requirements:
The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System (VANEOHS) requires access to specialized multi-modal artificial intelligence (MMAI) prostate risk stratification testing of prostate biopsies or surgical specimens to assess the likelihood and severity of prostate recurrence or progression. Multi-modal artificial intelligence (MMAI) is a precision medicine platform designed to optimize cancer treatment, primarily for prostate and breast cancer patients. This testing consists of the following to generate patient specific prostate cancer risk stratification: Data Integration: Artera AI analyzes H&E-stained pathology slides alongside patient clinical information, such as age, tumor stage, and lab results; Predictive Modeling: The AI algorithm predicts which patients are likely to benefit from specific therapies, such as short-term androgen deprivation therapy (ST-ADT) in prostate cancer; Outcome Estimation: It estimates long-term outcomes, including disease progression and metastasis risk, helping clinicians tailor treatment plans
Artera AI Prostate is the first MMAI test recommended in the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines for prostate cancer. It identifies patients who may benefit most from hormone therapy and supports early-stage treatment decisions. Benefits of this testing are early intervention providing actionable insights to guide therapy selection and improve patient outcomes for our prostate cancer patients.
