About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to sole-source a procurement for Microbiology Molecular Diagnostics reagents and analyzer reagent rental from Roche Diagnostics Corp. The notice, published on January 21, 2025, pertains to a contract opportunity identified with the solicitation number 36C24725Q0243 and falls under NAICS code 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. The procurement is specifically for the Atlanta VA Medical Center and involves acquiring a comprehensive diagnostic testing system capable of performing multiple molecular diagnostic tests. The system will include an FDA-approved real-time PCR analyzer and a pre-analytical processing instrument designed to conduct various medical tests across different specimen types.

The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to provide an opportunity for other businesses to demonstrate their capability to fulfill the VA's unique requirements before the agency proceeds with a sole-source procurement. Interested parties are invited to submit their capabilities via email to james.boles2@va.gov no later than 1:00 p.m. local time on January 27, 2025. The diagnostic testing capabilities sought include qualitative and quantitative tests for conditions such as Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, HIV-1, COVID-19, Human papillomavirus, Hepatitis C and B viruses, and Trichomonas vaginalis/Mycoplasma genitalium. While the notice is not a formal solicitation for competitive quotes, the VA will carefully review any communications received by the deadline to determine whether to open the procurement to competitive bidding. The government retains sole discretion in making the final determination about the procurement method, and no solicitation documents are currently available.
