About this opportunity
The Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is conducting a sources sought to identify vendors capable of providing a PXI Timing, Synchronization, and Data Acquisition System, with responses due July 24, 2026 by 12:00 PM Eastern Time. This is not a formal solicitation and does not commit the Government to award a contract or reimburse proposal preparation costs.
The requirement addresses modernization of AFRL's Sensors Directorate laboratory timing and synchronization capabilities to support advanced research and development in photonics, optical sensing, electromagnetic systems, signal processing, and instrumentation. The system must be modular, commercial-off-the-shelf PXI-based instrumentation with eight core capability areas: scalable chassis architecture with multiple instrumentation module slots and high-bandwidth communication; precision timing and multi-instrument synchronization with external timing reference inputs and outputs; GPS or equivalent precision timing source synchronization with signal distribution; high-performance backplane and low-latency communication supporting extended continuous operation; remote host connectivity via high-speed interfaces with plug-and-play capability; software, drivers, APIs/SDKs, and automated workflow support for secure government IT operation; compatibility with existing laboratory instrumentation and standard timing and trigger interfaces; and user-friendly configuration tools with comprehensive documentation for research environments.
Responses should address company identification, Small Business status and category (including 8(a), HubZone, or other designations), and relevant capability and experience. Responses must be submitted electronically to Mike Hornberger (michael.hornberger.1@us.af.mil) with subject line "PXI System." NAICS 334515; PSC 6640.
