About this opportunity
The Department of the Interior National Park Service Alaska Region seeks two hazardous material storage buildings for Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, with quotations due August 3, 2026 at 1200 hours ADT. This is a Total Small Business set-aside under NAICS 332311 (Prefabricated Metal Building Manufacturing), with a small business size standard of 750 employees.
Place of performance and delivery is Copper Center, Alaska (Mile 106.8 Richardson Highway, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park). The contract period runs August 5, 2026 through August 4, 2027 on a firm fixed-price basis.
Each building must be a steel, double-wall hazmat storage enclosure measuring 8 feet 3 inches high, 26 feet wide, and 8 feet deep, with a 700-gallon chemical-resistant welded steel sump (25% of total storage capacity). All electrical components, including lighting, must be rated for Class I, Division 1 due to storage of AVGAS and Jet A fuel. Buildings require one 60-inch by 80-inch double door with UL-classified commercial-grade keyed lockset, galvanized steel floor planking rated for 250 pounds per square foot, two-part chemical-resistant gray aliphatic polyurethane finish with UV and salt spray resistance, natural ventilation at 1 cubic foot per minute per square foot of floor area, pre-wired NEMA 3R electrical system, Class I Division 1 or 2 hazardous location ceiling-mount lighting, and an explosion relief system with minimum 20 psf release pressure and 2-hour fire rating. Buildings must comply with NFPA 30 and OSHA standards and include DOT and NFPA 704 hazard signage. Contractor is responsible for delivery via flatbed truck; the Park has offloading capability using a Cat Loader 950 rated to 15,000 pounds. Shop drawings and technical data require Government approval prior to fabrication. Amendment 0001 was issued July 17, 2026, and must be acknowledged prior to submission. Quotations must be submitted electronically, accompanied by SF-18 acknowledgement, amendment acknowledgement via SF-30, and specifications documentation indicating compliance. Vendors must be registered in SAM and must submit contact information including UEI and CAGE code. Evaluation prioritizes technical acceptability meeting or exceeding specifications, followed by price fairness and reasonableness.
