About this opportunity

The Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Hanscom Air Force Base announced market research for modernization of the Air Operations Center (AOC) Weapon System, with draft RFP release anticipated in September 2026 and final RFP release in January 2027. The AOC, designated AN/USQ-163 Falconer, serves as the senior command and control element for the Joint Force Air Component Commander and oversees planning, execution, and assessment of air, space, and cyberspace operations. The current sustainment and modernization contract is held by SAIC under FA8730-22-F-0071. The Air Force seeks innovative solutions addressing artificial intelligence and machine learning for accelerated decision-making, enhanced data fusion and visualization across disparate sources, advanced cybersecurity against emerging threats, and cloud-native architectures for agility and resilience. The program also aims to identify approaches for integrating legacy systems with modern technologies and mitigating evolving cyber threats. An RFI linked to this announcement provides the formal mechanism for industry input. The Air Force plans to conduct virtual one-on-ones, technology demonstrations, and industry roundtables with respondents. Estimated contract award is targeted for August 2027. No response is required to this program announcement; engagement will flow through the RFI process and subsequent industry forums.
