About this opportunity
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to negotiate a sole source procurement with BAE Systems for professional services and software licenses. The notice, posted on April 14, 2025, is for an acquisition to be conducted under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The procurement will result in a firm-fixed price purchase order and is classified under NAICS Code 334290 for Other Communications Equipment Manufacturing. While the procurement is currently targeted directly at BAE Systems, the DEA is allowing other vendors an opportunity to submit capability statements demonstrating their potential to meet the government's requirements. The notice emphasizes that the government retains full discretion in determining whether to open the requirement to broader competition.
Contractors interested in this opportunity must submit electronic capability statements to Robert.A.JonesJr@dea.gov by April 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM EST. The submission provides an avenue for vendors to showcase their ability to fulfill the DEA's needs, though submission does not guarantee competitive consideration. The DEA will post the Justification for Sole Source document 14 days after the award, providing transparency into the procurement process. This Special Notice is not a competitive request for quotation, and no formal Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be issued. Potential vendors should carefully review their capabilities against the DEA's requirements and understand that the agency has complete discretion in determining the final procurement approach. The opportunity is open to vendors who can provide professional services and software licenses aligned with the specified NAICS category.
