Notice text

The U.S. Army Contracting Command - Redstone is issuing this sources sought notice as a means of conducting market research to determine if other sources are capable of satisfying the requirement. This acquisition is for Process Automation Development for Oxide Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) for the CH-47 Block II Chinook and optionally the AH-64E Apache. This program will address modification / modernization program needs for weight and cost reduction through manufacturing and testing demonstration of a reduced-weight oxide CMC engine exhaust nozzle for CH-47 Block II Chinook and conceptual design of an AH-64 nozzle with optional AH-64 design, fabrication and testing demonstration through Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) 6. Improvements to these legacy and future platforms include electrical system improvements, accommodations of Improved Performance (IP) engines, airframe simplification and weight reduction. Oxide CMC integration will be an enabler in meeting these requirements, ensuring the relevance of these platforms beyond the 2020 timeframe. Oxide CMCs can be fabricated quickly, cost effectively, and can provide hot structure solutions with significant weight savings relative to metal alternatives. In addition, this program will enable reliable production of CMC hardware by reducing touch labor, cycle time, and scrap rate. These lighter-weight CMC exhaust nozzle components will improve performance, operations, and could possibly reduce infrared signature (IR), while providing the same form, fit, and functions as the legacy metallic super alloy parts. This risk reduction program is to mature the manufacturing processes and technologies, and to demonstrate the components in a relevant environment, in preparation for transition to CH-47 Cargo Program Manager (PM), and optionally AH-64E Apache PM, for qualification and implementation.
The intent is to acquire services through issuance of a Task Order under contract W911W6-18-D-0001with a period of performance of (48) forty-eight months. The intended source is The Boeing Company, 5000 E. McDowell Road, Mesa, Arizona 85215-9707. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 541715. No solicitation will be issued.
