About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is seeking to procure 5 units of a specific refueling probe, identified by National Stock Number 7R-1560-016758303-V2. This acquisition is highly specialized, requiring potential contractors to have pre-approved government source status for this flight-critical component. The solicitation emphasizes that only previously approved sources can submit proposals, and any new sources must provide comprehensive technical data through the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Source Approval Information Brochures. Contractors must submit detailed technical documentation demonstrating their capability to produce or repair the item, with offers lacking complete source approval documentation being automatically disqualified. The pre-solicitation notice indicates that technical data and manufacturing rights for this component are limited, creating significant barriers to entry for potential bidders. The response deadline is June 24, 2025, with the opportunity originally posted on May 9, 2025.
This procurement does not have a specific small business or disadvantaged business set-aside designation. The contract will be fulfilled via FOB Origin delivery, and the government reserves the right to award the contract based on fleet support needs, even if source approval processes are not fully completed. While specific award value is not disclosed, the procurement involves a specialized aerospace component that likely represents a significant technical and financial investment. The quantity of 5 units suggests this is likely a replacement or maintenance order for a specific military aircraft system. The procurement process emphasizes rigorous technical evaluation and source approval, indicating the critical nature of the refueling probe in military aviation operations. Potential contractors must navigate complex approval processes and demonstrate extensive technical expertise to be considered for this opportunity.
