About this opportunity

The U.S. Department of State, through the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), is preparing to solicit renovation and improvement works for their provincial office in Solwezi, Northwestern Province of Zambia. The project involves comprehensive structural improvements to an office space provided by the Zambian Government, including replacement of asbestos cement roofing, minor demolition, excavation, concrete and block works, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC modifications. The solicitation will be formally issued on SAM.gov, with a current pre-solicitation notice posted on January 25, 2025, and a response deadline of January 30, 2025. While specific evaluation criteria are not detailed in the pre-solicitation notice, the work will be categorized under the NAICS code 236220 for Commercial and Institutional Building Construction. The primary contracting officer for this opportunity is Evelyn Okoth, with Angela Banda serving as a secondary contact.

The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designations for this contract, meaning it appears open to all qualified contractors. The total project scope and potential award value are not explicitly stated in the current documentation. The contract will be performed at the Solwezi Provincial Health Office Compound, with the CDC intending to occupy and improve the provided office space. Contractors interested in the opportunity can add or remove themselves from the interested vendors list, though they cannot view other potential bidders. The geographic specificity of the project—being located in Northwestern Province, Zambia—suggests that firms with experience in international construction and renovation, particularly in African contexts, may be well-positioned to compete for this contract.
