About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is conducting market research through this Sources Sought Synopsis to identify potential manufacturing and supply sources for a Power Unit, Aircraft (NSN: 2835-01-373-4275, Part Number: 3800480-2) in support of the UH-60 Blackhawk weapon system. The agency seeks qualified contractors capable of producing this specialized component, which requires engineering source approval from the design control activity to maintain quality standards. Currently, the acquisition is being procured under FAR 6.302-1(a)(1) as a sole source procurement due to existing approved sources retaining essential data rights, manufacturing knowledge, and technical data that are not economically available to the government. The proposed NAICS code is 333611 (Turbine and Turbine Generator Set Units Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,500 employees. This pre-solicitation notice was posted on August 12, 2025, with responses due by August 15, 2025, though no formal solicitation is currently available.
This opportunity does not utilize any set-aside designations, though the government expresses interest in all business types including 8(a), small business, small disadvantaged business, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, HUBZone, and Women-Owned small business concerns. No specific incumbent contractors are identified in the notice, though it indicates that approved sources currently exist who possess the necessary technical data and manufacturing capabilities. The notice does not specify award values, budget ranges, or quantities of units required. Contractors interested in competing for future solicitations are encouraged to seek source approval through the Army Aviation and Missile Command's public website, and all potential sources must meet prequalification requirements to be registered as viable contractors for this specialized aircraft power unit.
