About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is conducting market research through a Sources Sought Synopsis to identify potential sources for a Portable Laser Cleaning System with Fume Extraction and Accessories. The 309th AMXG Group requires a 300-Watt, 1064 nm pulsed laser system with touch screen controls, portable design (under 18x24x30 inches), and made-in-USA construction, along with multiple accessories including fume extractors, optical barriers, safety goggles, and onsite training. Interested parties must be classified under NAICS code 333517 (Machine Tool Manufacturing) with a size standard of 500 employees and must demonstrate similar experience providing comparable services to government and commercial customers over the past three years. Responses must be limited to four pages and should include company name, CAGE code, point of contact information, and size status designation. The deadline for interested parties to respond to this Sources Sought notice is January 9, 2026.
This procurement is designated as a Total Small Business Set-Aside, with particular interest in responses from 8(a), Service-Disabled Veteran Owned, HUBZone, and Women-Owned small business concerns. Respondents are required to identify their applicable small business status and disclose any anticipated teaming arrangements, clearly delineating the work to be performed by the prime contractor versus teaming partners. The notice indicates that contractor-provided training at Hill AFB, Utah will be required as part of the overall requirement. No specific award value or budget range is disclosed in this market research phase, as the government is using this information to determine the best acquisition strategy and whether this effort can be conducted competitively as a small business set-aside. The training component is specified as a two-day onsite program for up to ten users at the Hill Air Force Base location.
