About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation (DLA Aviation) is seeking to procure pistons for landing gear, specifically NSN 1620-00-949-0417LE with part number 3-41606-3. The pre-solicitation notice serves as a combined Request for Information and Synopsis to conduct market research and determine potential sources capable of meeting the agency's requirements. The contracting office is located at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, with a response deadline of May 22, 2025. The procurement is being pursued under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1), which suggests limited available sources for these specific parts. The government has determined that it is uneconomical to purchase data rights or reverse engineer the part, and specifications may be incomplete or unavailable.
The pre-solicitation does not indicate a small business set-aside, and Northrop Grumman Corporation is suggested as a potential subcontracting partner. The estimated quantity is 5 pistons, with an anticipated delivery schedule of August 5, 2027. The solicitation number is SPRHA1-25-R-7007, and the procurement falls under NAICS code 336413 for Other Aircraft Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing. Foreign participation is not permitted at the prime contractor level, and the contract duration is currently to be determined. Interested parties are encouraged to submit capability statements, proposals, or quotations within 30 days of the notice, with the understanding that this is not a formal Request for Proposal and the government is not obligated to contract based on the information received.
