About this opportunity
The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has issued a Request for Information to conduct market research for innovative Target Payload Systems supporting missile defense capability testing. The agency seeks capable, flexible, high-quality Reentry Vehicles and payloads that can be rapidly adapted to meet future testing requirements, with technical specifications including ballistic, maneuvering, and hypersonic capabilities, payload weights between 200-2000 pounds, lengths of 8-16 feet, and the ability to survive atmospheric re-entry to 10 km altitude. Responses must be submitted by U.S. firms only and are due by June 23, 2025, via encrypted electronic submission to TC-FutureAcquisitions@mda.mil. The evaluation will focus on technical capabilities, production capacity, mission assurance, digital engineering approaches, target missile modeling, and rough order of magnitude cost estimates. The MDA will conduct one-on-one sessions from August 6 through September 9, 2025, either in person at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, or via teleconference to accommodate both classified and unclassified discussions.
This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified U.S. firms, with the MDA particularly encouraging participation from non-traditional contractors and companies utilizing commercial components in accordance with recent Executive Orders. The RFI does not specify current incumbents, though it notes that non-government advisors from six listed consulting firms may attend the one-on-one sessions, including Ajosta LLC, Avion Solutions Inc., BCF Solutions, Mission Driven Research, People Tec, and Vali Inc. No specific contract values or budget ranges are provided in the documentation, as this is strictly a market research effort that may inform future acquisition strategies. The government is interested in both partial and full solutions, including modular designs that could accommodate some or all of the specified capabilities. Companies interested in scheduling one-on-one sessions must contact the agency no later than August 26, 2025, and the MDA reserves the right to develop single or multiple contract actions based on the responses received.
