About this opportunity
The Drug Enforcement Administration has published a Special Notice announcing its intent to negotiate a sole source acquisition with Motorola Solutions Inc for LMR Subscriber access on the Motorola South Carolina Palmetto Land Mobile Radio System. The contracting opportunity is valued under simplified acquisition procedures and will result in a firm-fixed price purchase order. Motorola Solutions Inc is located at 6 Harbison Way, Columbia, SC 29212 and has been identified as the sole source provider for this radio communications system access. The procurement falls under NAICS Code 334220 for radio and television broadcasting and wireless communications equipment manufacturing. This is a civilian agency procurement with no set-aside designation applied.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to provide advance notification of the DEA's sole source procurement strategy while offering other vendors an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities to meet the government's requirements. Interested contractors may submit capability statements by September 26, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. Eastern Time to Monica.J.Gehrer@dea.gov, though this notice explicitly states it is not a request for competitive quotations. Any vendor believing they can fulfill the specialized land mobile radio system requirements may participate by submitting their qualifications for agency consideration. The government reserves full discretion to maintain the sole source approach regardless of responses received, and will post the formal justification for sole source procurement within 14 days following contract award. No Request for Quotation document is available, as the agency intends to proceed directly with the identified vendor unless compelling alternative capabilities are demonstrated.
