About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Robins Air Force Base is conducting market research to identify solutions that can enable the loading and unloading of cargo-laden 463L pallets onto and off of C-130 aircraft without the use of material handling equipment. The government is seeking to understand the capabilities, manufacturing experience, and potential trade-offs of any proposed solutions that meet specific requirements related to weight, dimensions, and load capacity. Industry is encouraged to provide comments on the achievability of the government's objectives and propose alternative concepts. Responses to the Request for Information are due by November 20, 2024, and the government indicates that participation may lead to future solicitations or contract awards.

The market research is not using any set-aside designations, and the level of security clearance and amount of foreign participation have not yet been determined. The government has not provided any information about potential incumbents or current contractors, award values or budget ranges, or specific quantities of goods or timelines for services.

Notice text

The Government is conducting market research to identify sources for a solution that will enable the movement of loaded 463L cargo pallets and heavy non-palletized rolling stock equipment both on and off of C-130 aircraft without the use of material handling equipment such as forklifts or other prime mover vehicles. The Government seeks to determine if there is presently a solution in the market, if a solution is already being developed, and also the trade-offs to consider when specifying its requirements for a solution. The level of security clearance and amount of foreign participation in this requirement has not been determined.
