About this opportunity
The U.S. Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is soliciting offers for repair services on a Zeiss Scanbox Series 5 precision measurement system, specifically requiring the delivery, installation, and calibration of one OEM-specified MicroSan3 Core Short Range 5.5m replacement sensor. The contractor must provide a technician certified and verified in maintenance, repair, and calibration of the Zeiss Scanbox Series 5 with Original Equipment Manufacturer authorization, along with all necessary labor, tools, equipment, parts, and quality control services to restore full operational status. Key requirements include arriving on-site within two business days of notification, delivering an Estimate Repair Report within one business day of inspection, ordering parts within two business days of approval, completing repairs within five business days of parts receipt, and providing a final Service Report within five business days of completion. Evaluation will be based on technical capability, price, and past performance. The solicitation (FA813226Q0028) was posted on April 20, 2026, with offers due by April 24, 2026 at 12:00 AM, and questions regarding the solicitation should be directed to contracting officers Valerie Cockman or Tran Walsh.
The procurement carries a small business set-aside designation, and competition has been restricted to a single source—Carl Zeiss Industrial Quality Solutions LLC—as the exclusive Original Equipment Manufacturer and sole distributor of the Scanbox Series 5, with repair by Zeiss personnel necessary to maintain equipment warranty validity. The contract is structured as a firm fixed-price arrangement for the work to be performed at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with the period of performance spanning from July 7, 2026 to July 22, 2026. Work hours are restricted to Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding federal holidays and base closures. Prevailing wage rates established under the Service Contract Act apply, with fringe benefits of $5.55 per hour, and the contractor must comply with extensive environmental protection, safety, and occupational safety standards including OSHA requirements, hazardous materials management, and Fire Prevention Order compliance specific to Tinker AFB.

A replacement sensor in PMXG's current Zeiss Scanbox Series 5. A repair must be done to the existing sensor for the Scanbox to calibrate to its environment. The Scanbox is extremely precise and allows for accurate measurement of parts without an operator present inside of the measurement room.
