About this opportunity
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at Johnson Space Center is seeking to procure the Orion Crew Survival Systems Suit (OCSS) and accompanying support hardware through a sole source contract. The procurement will provide flight crew and backup flight crew suits along with supporting hardware for the Artemis 3 mission and subsequent flights, with these items also supporting integrated-system tests and flight crew training. A critical requirement is that the suit must have already completed full qualification efforts for compatibility with the Orion vehicle and Artemis mission requirements. NASA intends to award this contract solely to David Clark Company Incorporated (DCCI) under the authority of FAR 6.103-1, based on the determination that only one responsible source can satisfy agency requirements. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications electronically to John Leppala (john.leppala@nasa.gov) and Stephen Noethen (stephen.d.noethen@nasa.gov) by 5 PM Central Daylight Time on May 7, 2026, with submissions evaluated solely to determine whether to conduct a competitive acquisition.
This procurement carries no set-aside designation and represents a sole source opportunity to the incumbent contractor, David Clark Company Incorporated. Respondents must declare their business size status, including designations such as Large Business or Small Business Woman-Owned Small Business. The notice does not specify an award value or budget range for the contract. The Government reserves sole discretion to determine whether to compete this acquisition on a full and open basis based on responses received. The Center Ombudsman contact information is available through the NASA procurement website for any inquiries regarding this acquisition process.
