About this opportunity

The US Army Contracting Command-Redstone, a defense agency under the Department of the Army Materiel Command, has issued a Special Notice seeking market research for specialized scientific instrumentation. Specifically, the agency is investigating potential sources to provide one Optical Particle Sizer (OPS) and one Condensation Particle Counter (CPC) to support biosensor calibration systems. The instruments are intended for the U.S. Army Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment Activity (USATA) and must meet specific technical requirements. These requirements include compatibility with existing automated test equipment, high-resolution capabilities with at least sixteen user-configurable size channels viewable in real time, and a 1 liter/minute inlet flow rate matching Army calibration hardware standards. The opportunity is classified under NAICS Category 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing.

Contractors interested in responding to this Request for Information (RFI) must submit a 3-page white paper in Microsoft Word format by April 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM CST. The submission should include comprehensive details about the company, including business size, socio-economic status, and point of contact information. Responses must be emailed directly to Contracting Officer Lisa Armes and Contract Specialist Taylor Siskoff. There is currently no specific set-aside status for this opportunity, meaning both small and large businesses may potentially qualify. The primary objective of this market research is to reduce procurement risk by identifying viable sources for these specialized scientific instruments critical to USATA's biosensor calibration systems. Potential respondents should carefully review the technical specifications and ensure their proposed equipment can meet the stringent performance requirements outlined in the documentation.
