About this opportunity
The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has published a Special Notice announcing its inaugural Innovation Industry Day (I2D) focused on Power & Energy research opportunities. This event, hosted by the Department of the Navy, is designed to serve as a forum for direct industry engagement and feedback on Navy science and technology challenges. The I2D will bring together ONR leadership with non-traditional, commercial, and innovative industry partners to discuss future power and energy needs. The event represents ONR's effort to broaden its partnerships and gather input from diverse industry sectors on critical research areas.
The primary objective of the Innovation Industry Day is to solicit industry feedback on Navy S&T challenges projected over the next 15 years and to encourage subsequent white paper submissions for fiscal year 2027 consideration. The event will be held on May 14, 2026, at the Bobby Junker Executive Conference Center in Arlington, Virginia, with registration limited to one representative per company and required by May 1, 2026. All attendees must complete a Pentagon Force Protection Agency Visitor Management System application by May 8, 2026, and provide a valid government-issued photo ID upon arrival. The I2D will focus on four key research areas: Energy Storage, Power Generation, Thermal Management, and Power Distribution, Control & Resilience, with particular emphasis on innovations at Technology Readiness Levels 1-6. There is no registration fee for this event, and interested contractors should contact the appropriate ONR representatives for technical, business, or logistical inquiries.
