About this opportunity
The USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Ruminant Nutrition Research Unit announced a sole-source procurement of Olink Reveal reagents compatible with the Olink Proximity Extension Assay (PEA) platform with a response deadline of August 31, 2026. The estimated value is $149,000 in Fiscal Year 2026. RAFSRU requires these reagents to conduct quantitative analysis of protein biomarkers in plasma and serum samples from ongoing clinical studies, measuring specific protein levels and biomarker expression using the Olink Reveal Assay across approximately 1,000 analytes from 88 samples. The reagents must produce quantitative protein expression data in NPX units and require only 2 microliters of biospecimen per analysis. The justification for sole-source award rests on the unique technical specifications of the Olink Reveal assay and the exclusive availability through Olink Proteomics, a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific. USDA determined that Olink Reveal reagents are not interchangeable with other manufacturers' products and that Original Equipment Manufacturer products are necessary to ensure proper equipment operation and research accuracy. The government conducted market research via internet search and reviewed an exclusivity statement from Olink before restricting competition.

USDA – ARS – RAFSRU requires Olink Reveal reagents compatible with the Olink Proximity Extension Assay (PEA) to conduct analysis of protein biomarkers to continue ongoing studies. The reagents are required to carry out quantitative analysis of protein levels in plasma and serum samples from clinical studies. The levels of specific biomarkers will be measured using the Olink Reveal Assay. Olink’s Proximity Extension Assay (PEA) technology combines specificity and scalability to enable high-throughput, multiplex protein biomarker analysis. (SEE ATTACHED NOTICE AND J&A)
