About this opportunity
The United States Coast Guard Surface Force Logistics Center (USCG-SFLC) in Norfolk, Virginia has published a Special Notice of Intent to Award a sole source contract for OEM Mathers Propulsion Control System Parts. This notice, posted on April 2, 2026, indicates that the Coast Guard intends to award a Firm Fixed Price contract exclusively to Northway Mathers, Inc, doing business as Northway Products. The procurement is authorized under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Parts 6.302-1, 6.303-2, and 6.304, which permit sole source awards when only one source is reasonably available. The notice falls under the Ship Building and Repairing NAICS category and involves ship and boat propulsion components. This publication serves an informational purpose and is not a competitive solicitation.
The primary objective of this special notice is to publicly announce the Coast Guard's intention to procure Mathers Propulsion Control System parts needed for repair purposes from the original equipment manufacturer. The due date for any response or comments is April 7, 2026, though the notice explicitly states it will not be extended or the award delayed to allow vendors to submit quotes or complete registrations. Northway Mathers, Inc qualifies as the sole eligible contractor because it is the Original Equipment Manufacturer for the required propulsion control system components. The contract will be structured as a purchase order under FAR 2.212-4 terms and conditions with applicable FAR 52.212-4 clauses. Any proprietary information submitted in response to this notice will be protected and handled accordingly, though this notice should be understood as information-only and not a genuine request for competitive bids.
