About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 22 units of NSN 7R-1680-016216682-EY, a flight-critical aircraft component with associated replacement parts. This pre-solicitation notice indicates a complex procurement process that requires government source approval prior to contract award, which means only previously approved sources can potentially bid on this opportunity. Vendors must submit detailed technical data and documentation according to the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Source Approval Information Brochures, with offers that fail to provide complete data being automatically disqualified. The government will not be using FAR Part 12 policies for commercial item acquisition in this solicitation. Interested parties have 15 days from the notice date to identify their capability to satisfy the requirement, with the current pre-solicitation notice posted on December 29, 2023, and a response deadline of March 27, 2025.

The solicitation has no specific set-aside designation, suggesting full and open competition among qualified sources. While the specific award value is not disclosed, the procurement involves 22 units to be delivered FOB origin, indicating a potentially significant but not extraordinarily large contract. The technical complexity of the item, classified as a miscellaneous aircraft accessory and component (PSC Category 1680), suggests stringent qualification requirements and potentially high-value specialized manufacturing capabilities. Vendors must demonstrate prior government approval or be willing to undergo an extensive source approval process, which can be time-consuming and technically demanding. The government has explicitly noted that if source approval cannot be processed in time, they may still proceed with award based on fleet support needs, underscoring the critical nature of these aircraft components.
